Dear Fintan,
Many thanks for your note. As a result of SOHO’s
distant orbit we are not always in contact with the
satellite. When this occurs there is a solid-state recorder
on board where the data is stored and we retrieve these data
once we’re back in contact. Such gaps can last up to 8
hours.
We also occasionally have problems relaying the data, either
from the spacecraft to the receiving station or from that
station back to the Goddard Spaceflight Centre, where
it’s stored. If this is the case then the data needs to be
retrieved manually.
A combination of the two occurred on the 22nd and
as a result the data you enquired about only became
available late yesterday. They’re presently being processed
and should be available online within about an hour.
Best wishes,
Gareth Lawrence.
