The Bosnian Pyramid, Visocica Hill, is the first European pyramid to be discovered and is located in the heart of Bosnia, in the town of Visoko. The pyramid has all the elements: four perfectly shaped slopes pointing toward the cardinal points, a flat top and an entrance complex.

There are also the ruins of a Medieval walled town, once the base of a Bosnian king Tvrtko of Kotromanic (1338-1391).

Because of its similarities to the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan, Mexico, it has been named the “Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” ('Bosanska Piramida Sunca'). There are also a four more ancient structures on the site:

1. Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon ('Bosanska Piramida Mjeseca')

2. Bosnian Pyramid of the Dragon ( 'Bosanska Piramida Zmaja')

3. Bosnian Pyramid of the Love ('Bosanska Piramida Ljubavi')

4. Temple of the Earth, ('Hram Zemlje')

'We have already dug out stone blocks which I believe are covering the pyramid', said Semir (Sam) Osmanagic, a Bosnian American archaeologist who has spent the last 15 years studying the pyramids of Latin America.

'We found a paved entrance plateau and discovered underground tunnels'.....

Satellite, aerial photographs and geographic maps show that Visocica hill has four sides like other existing pyramids around the world. All four sides are identical with the points of the compass, facing north, south, east and west.

The pyramid plateau, which measures 27m x 420m, is paved with stone slabs. These blocks have been cut by human hand, transported to the site, and then used to build the plateau of Visočica. Each slab is about 10cm thick, on average. Technology including satellite photography and thermal imaging is being used to develop a better understanding of the site’s hidden features.

The pyramid walls are built from the megalita breče stone. Blocks of different sizes are typically used to build pyramids. These stone blocks have been excavated some 150 m away from the apex of the pyramid.

Further excavations are underway in the surrounding areas to map the blocks and underground tunnels.

New evidence of ancient civilization?

Bosnian writer Ahmed Bosnić has recently returned from the Valley of River Bosna (Bosnia) where he visited the village of Ozimići and found a significant concentration of the stone balls found across Bosnia. He was in the company Dr Aly Abd Barakat , Egyptian geologist (Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority. ), who confirmed that the balls were a manmade rather than natural phenomenon.

The existence of the balls in this region was not known until an earthquake 12 or 13 years ago revealed them. They vary in size with the largest measuring 1.7m high and with a circumference of 5.3m.

Theory is that the balls were created at the same time as the pyramids in the Bosnian Valley of Pyramids and that their existence proves an ancient civilization existed in today’s Bosnia. This location will soon become protected as a National Park and will be recognized as one of the sites of archaeological significance in Bosnia.

Bosnic also visited Mećevići (Zavidovići) which contains more than 20 of the mysterious stone balls, measuring from a few centimeters’ diameter up to 3m in circumference. The picture shown indicates the size of some of the balls found.
