Sifting through experiments and the observations of a great many Hum sufferers has produced a result which was completely unexpected and no doubt will be extremely controversial.

Over the years there have been many attempts to detect the Hum but there is no evidence to show it has an acoustic cause, likewise, there is no evidence to show the cause is a radio wave or a magnetic or an electric field, therefore, no matter how improbable it may seem, there must be some other cause.

Among the many statements from sufferers, three are most significant.

1/ The Hum can be modulated by sharp movements of the head, and by quickly climbing and descending stairs or walking in a sharp manner, in fact anything that involves sharp movements.

2/ The Hum can be moderated by pressing hard on the soft tissue of the ear

3/ That many Hum sufferers experience nausea, a symptom akin to travel sickness, also they find sitting is preferable to laying down

These are all indications that the perception of sound is coming from the inner ear, the semicircular canals, the organs which detect motion and Gravity.

It is also evident that buildings play a dominant role in the perception of the Hum, the size, shape and materials of construction all effect the hum level, indeed, without the presence of a building some people do not hear the Hum at all.

Many times on this web site reference has been made to a voltage which can be measured coming from the walls of buildings where the Hum is heard. This voltage does not come through the walls, but is generated within the actual brick. This is not to say that the voltage is the cause of the Hum but rather to state that the same force which produces a voltage to appear in brick is the same force which produces the illusion of sound inside the head.

The major points concerning these wall voltages are

1/ That they are strongest in outward facing load bearing walls, that is, walls which support the weight of the roof.
2/ That although these voltages look like the mains, they are not of the mains directly for they change both in amplitude and form with changing weather conditions.
3/ If these wall voltages are played through a speaker an the volume adjusted to be the same level as the perceived Hum, it can be clearly observed that they are in phase with each other. The Hum and the wall voltages are of the same source.

Experiments carried out on various types of brick shows that this "wall voltage" is produced by a piezo electric effect and is caused by the oscillating weight of the roof.

We now arrive at the somewhat startling notion that the national power grid is modulating the gravitational field and that this modulation can be detected in the inner ear of some individuals.

This would also explain why all attempts to block or screen the Hum have failed for as far as is known, it is no possible to block a gravitational field.

Finding a means of protection now appears to be a daunting task, but the next stage is to establish why the effect is so much stronger inside buildings.
